Some treatments for prostate cancer may include having the entire prostate surgically removed, ration therapy, cryosurgery and hormone therapy. All of these procedures affect a delicate area that is located very close to the male sexual organ, and some of them will cause impotence to some degree right after they are performed, whether they are successful or not. The problem is that whereas the ability to achieve erections may return after a while, it may also not come back at all. Of course, I am by no means trying to put any of these treatments down, quite the contrary, it is very reassuring to know that science is able to deal with such a serious problem as prostate cancer, even if there is a price to pay. I, for one, would choose impotence over cancer any day of the week.
