Feline Hyperthyroidism.

Question.
My cat suffers with hyperthyroidism and I'd like to treat the condition homoeopathically. However, I'm having difficulty locating bugleaves and Potassium iodide, can you help?
Also lime blossom and hawthorn in leaf form - how would I give this to my cat?

Answer.
Lycopus virginicus (Bugle weed) is a north American plant. Lycopus europaeus (Gypsywort) is the European species. Gyspywort is a rare and endangered plant. It would be immoral and may be illegal to pick it. If you do find it, please enjoy it, leave it be and only take photographs. It may be found on stream banks, ditches and fens in the British Isles except for north east England. east and north Scotland.

The harvesting of medicinal plants in the wild is causing serious environmental damage throughout the world. Some plants have become endangered and even extinct by humanity's greed and lack of respect for our environment.

Hyperthyroidism is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. I strongly advise you to consult a holistic vet who is experienced in treating it with complementary and alternative medicine. You could damage your cat's health and welfare by trying to treat this without veterinary supervision.

Hyperthroidism can be treated with medicinal plants such as Leonurus cardiaca (Motherwort) , Melissa officinalis (Lemon Balm). cultivated Lycopus europaeus (Gypsywort) and other herbs according to your cat's individual needs. The types of preparation, parts of the plant used and dosage would be tailored to suit your cat by a herbalist vet, after a consultation.
