Feeding a Bull Terrier Puppy.

Question.
I am due to pick up a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy soon. I am a little bit worried about which sort of food I should be feeding her; the choice is so vast. What would you recommend?

Answer.
In the first few days after taking your new puppy home I would advise you to continue feeding whatever the breeder has suggested. This will help reduce the stress involved for your puppy.

Then I would suggest you ask your own vet to examine your puppy and check her body condition. He or she will then be able to advise if she is growing well or maybe is under or overweight.

Life can be much easier if you choose a complete balanced puppy food; this way you can be sure that your puppy is getting all she needs in each meal. I would advise against using home-made recipes that rely on milk, human breakfast cereal, and lots of added vitamins and minerals.

These diets tend to be very high in calories and much too high in calcium. Your vet should be able to give you a free sample of a food he recommends after examining your puppy.
