Dog losing hair.Question: My two-year-old male Boxer dog losing hair is perfectly healthy but has recently begun to shed a huge amount of hair. He sometimes also has what seems to be a fine dust in his coat, although he is brushed and bathed regularly.
Answer:
Dog coat hair changes in autumn and spring generally cause large amounts of moulting and a certain amount of scurfiness, so it may be that your Boxer is just getting his first proper adult summer coat. A variety of skin and coat problems can affect even young dogs like yours. Any signs of itchiness or baldness should be investigated by your vet, so that if the dog has a parasitic or hormonal problem, or an allergy to something, you can identify and treat it properly.
